BOOK

Published March 2015
De Muze brengt mij
The book ‘De Muze brengt mij’ is a colorful collection of stories, written by the Limburg pianist, composer and teacher Egbert Derix. They are stories about the places where the music takes him and the special encounters that arise as a result. The stories paint a very personal and often emotional picture of his experiences. Such as his encounter with the son of Neil Armstrong and the saxophonist of Supertramp. The muse takes him all over the world: from Limburg to New York, from Denmark to the Philippines. Derix writes in a very accessible style in which intense experience, humor and mysticism flow effortlessly into each other.

That is to Say
Occasionally, having both an element of good fortune and being in the now, can result in something memorable. A keepsake. On that night in Norderstedt, a northern suburb of Hamburg, Egbert and I were blessed with both and this film bears testament. Sure, we‘ve had our moments of being in the zone. Some longer than others, but this was a special performance. As our song ‘Restless wings ‘ states, ‘ they were closer than two beatings of the same heart ‚ and for those two hours, remarkably, we were. This disc was meant to be. A reward, if you like, for all the heart, soul and rehearsal invested in being the best we can possibly be. Mostly music from the past two albums, plus a couple of reinterpreted chestnuts, make up.That is to say. It comes with love and gratitude, from both of us, to all of you. With a giant sized thank you to Wolfgang and the crew. The rest of it was, I can only imagine, providence.
